Gearbox PTO Mesin Penabur Benih untuk Penanaman dan Pengukuran Presisi

The only parallel-shaft spur/helical gearbox in our agricultural product line. Purpose-built for the ultra-low vibration and exact speed control that seed metering mechanisms demand. Aluminum housing, 10-30 HP rated, multiple ratio configurations for different seed types and row spacing.

This Is Not a Right-Angle Bevel Gearbox.

Every other Kotak roda gigi PTO in our agricultural catalog uses spiral bevel gears to redirect power 90 degrees. This seeder gearbox is fundamentally different — it uses parallel-shaft spur or helical gears that transmit power in a straight line. The reason: seed metering mechanisms cannot tolerate the micro-pulsation inherent in bevel gear meshing. Even DIN 6 bevel gears produce cyclic torque variation that, transmitted through a metering disc, becomes variation in seed spacing. Parallel spur and helical gears deliver smoother, more linear torque transfer — and that linearity translates directly into more uniform seed placement in the soil.

Precision planting is a numbers game played in millimeters. A modern pneumatic seeder places individual corn kernels at exactly 178mm spacing across a 12-row planter traveling at 9 km/h. At that speed, the seed metering disc inside each row unit rotates at a precisely calibrated RPM determined by ground speed, row spacing, and seed population target. The Kotak roda gigi PTO that drives the central metering shaft must deliver exactly the right speed — and hold that speed rock-steady regardless of ground conditions, PTO shaft angle, or implement weight on the hitch — because any speed fluctuation translates directly into seed spacing error in the field.

A 1% variation in metering shaft speed across a 30-hectare corn field at 80,000 seeds/ha spacing means approximately 24,000 seeds are misplaced — enough to reduce yield by 1.5-2.5% at harvest. Over a 500-hectare season, that gearbox-induced spacing error can cost $15,000-$25,000 USD in lost grain revenue. Precision in the gearbox pays for itself many times over at harvest.

Our seeder Kotak roda gigi PTO addresses this with a parallel-shaft architecture using spur or helical gear pairs in a lightweight aluminum housing. The parallel-shaft design eliminates the cyclic torque ripple inherent in bevel gear meshing, delivering output speed variation below 0.3% — the smoothest transmission in our entire agricultural gearbox product line. Each unit is a premium aftermarket replacement fully interchangeable with OEM gearboxes from leading seeder and planter manufacturers.

From PTO Shaft to Seed in Soil — The Precision Chain

In a precision seeder, the kotak roda gigi penggerak daya is not just a speed changer — it is the metrological reference that determines how many seeds go into every meter of row. Here is how each link in the precision chain depends on the gearbox.

LINK 01

PTO Input

Tractor PTO delivers 540 RPM through a standard 6-spline shaft. Unlike impact-loaded gearboxes, the seeder input sees smooth, constant-velocity rotation — no shear bolt is required because there is no mechanism in the seeding process that can generate a sudden torque spike.

LINK 02

Parallel Gear Mesh

Inside the aluminum housing, the input gear (spur or helical) meshes with the output gear on a parallel shaft. Unlike bevel gears that produce cyclic torque variation from the spiral tooth contact pattern, parallel gears mesh along a straight line of contact — delivering constant-velocity output with less than 0.3% speed variation under load.

LINK 03

Speed Calibration

The gear ratio converts PTO speed to the exact RPM that the metering mechanism requires. A 1.25:1 ratio delivers 675 RPM; a 2:1 delivers 270 RPM. Some seeders use multiple gear stages within the gearbox to achieve fine-step ratio selection — allowing the operator to dial in seed population from 60,000 to 120,000 seeds/ha by changing a gear cluster.

LINK 04

Metering Drive

The output shaft connects to the central metering shaft that runs across all row units. Each row unit contains a seed disc or finger mechanism that picks up and releases individual seeds at a rate determined by shaft RPM. Any vibration or speed pulsation from the gearbox translates directly into doubles (two seeds in one spot) or skips (empty spots) in the row — the two most costly planting errors.

Why parallel shaft instead of right-angle bevel? A bevel gear pair — even at DIN 6 precision — produces inherent cyclic torque variation as the curved tooth contact pattern sweeps across the tooth face during each revolution. This variation is imperceptible in a mower or tiller where the load overwhelms any transmission ripple. But in a seed metering disc rotating at 20-40 RPM to place individual seeds at 178mm spacing, that micro-pulsation becomes a measurable source of singulation error. Parallel spur and helical gears, by contrast, maintain a constant line of contact throughout the mesh cycle, producing the flattest possible torque curve. This is the fundamental engineering reason why precision seeder gearboxes use parallel-shaft architecture while every other implement type uses right-angle bevel.

Engineering Advantages for Precision Agriculture

P

Parallel-Shaft Architecture — Zero Bevel Pulsation

This is the defining technical difference between our seeder gearbox and every other Kotak roda gigi PTO we manufacture. Bevel gears inherently produce cyclic torque variation as the contact point sweeps across the curved tooth surface during each revolution. In a mower running at 800 RPM under heavy load, this ripple is invisible. In a seed metering disc rotating at 25 RPM to place individual seeds at precise intervals, it becomes the dominant source of singulation error. Our parallel spur/helical gear architecture eliminates this ripple entirely, maintaining a constant line of contact throughout the mesh cycle. Measured output speed variation is below 0.3% — compared to 0.5-1.0% typical of even the best bevel gearboxes. That 0.5% improvement in speed stability translates directly into 0.5% fewer doubles and skips in the field.

DIN Grade 5-6 Gear Precision

Our bevel gearboxes for mowers and tillers use DIN 6-7 gears. Our seeder gearbox goes one grade tighter to DIN 5-6. The reason: parallel spur gears can be ground to tighter tolerances than bevel gears (the geometry is simpler), and the precision seeding application demands it. DIN 5-6 means tooth profile error below 5 micrometers and pitch error below 6 micrometers — tolerances that virtually eliminate gear mesh-induced vibration at the low rotational speeds (20-80 RPM at the metering shaft) where seed placement accuracy is determined.

ABEC-5 Precision Bearings

Standard agricultural gearboxes use ABEC-1 or ABEC-3 bearings — adequate for the loads and speeds of mowing or tilling. Our seeder gearbox specifies ABEC-5 precision bearings with C3 clearance. The tighter ABEC-5 tolerance controls radial and axial shaft movement to within 5 micrometers, preventing the shaft wobble that would cause gear mesh variation and ultimately seed spacing error. At the low speeds of seeder operation, bearing load is minimal — the precision grade is selected entirely for positional accuracy, not for load capacity or speed rating.

Multi-Output Shaft Configurations

Many seeder designs require more than one output from the gearbox — one shaft for the seed metering mechanism, another for the fertilizer metering mechanism, and sometimes a third for a fan or vacuum pump that assists seed singulation. Our parallel-shaft architecture accommodates up to three output shafts at different speeds from a single PTO input, with each output ratio independently configurable. This consolidates what would otherwise be two or three separate gearboxes into a single compact unit, saving weight, space, and maintenance complexity on the seeder frame.

Helical Gear Option for Sub-60 dB Noise

Spur gears are the simplest and most affordable option, producing noise levels around 62-65 dB — acceptable for most field seeding. For operators who spend long hours seeding and value cabin quiet, we offer a helical gear upgrade that drops noise to below 60 dB at rated load. The helical tooth angle creates a gradual tooth engagement that distributes the mesh impact over a longer time period, reducing the acoustic energy generated at each tooth contact. The efficiency penalty is negligible (less than 0.5%), and the smoother mesh also marginally improves output speed stability — a secondary benefit for the most precision-critical applications.

Lightweight Aluminum Housing — Designed for Seeder Frame Integration

At 4-6 kg, our seeder gearbox is the lightest unit in our entire agricultural product line. This matters because seeders are already heavy — a fully loaded 12-row pneumatic planter with seed and fertilizer can weigh 4,000-6,000 kg. Every unnecessary kilogram in the drivetrain reduces the payload capacity available for seed and fertilizer. The aluminum housing also provides natural corrosion resistance against treated seed dust (which often contains fungicidal coatings that are mildly corrosive to bare steel) and the chemical residues from starter fertilizers applied simultaneously with seeding. The anodized surface finish adds an additional layer of protection that exceeds powder coating durability in the abrasive seed-handling environment.

Field Results from Precision Seeding Operations

We tested the Korean gearbox against our original German unit on side-by-side passes across 20 hectares of corn. The seed spacing coefficient of variation measured 4.2% with the Korean gearbox versus 4.8% with the worn German unit. That half-percent improvement represents approximately 6,000 fewer misplaced seeds per hectare.

Mr. Hwang — Precision Ag Research Farm, Chungcheongnam-do
8-row corn planter, Amazone Cataya type gearbox replacement. Ordered 12 units for 2025 spring planting season after successful 2024 field trial.

The dual-output configuration — one shaft for the seed metering and a second for the fertilizer metering at a different ratio — eliminated the separate fertilizer gearbox we had been mounting on a bracket. Our seeder frame is 3.8 kg lighter and we removed one maintenance point.

Mr. Ogawa — Vegetable Seeder Manufacturer, Shizuoka Prefecture
Custom dual-output gearbox for onion/carrot precision belt seeder. 400 units per year production volume since 2024.

We switched from a bevel gearbox to the parallel-shaft unit on our rice seeders and measured a 35% reduction in seed double-placement rate during the 2025 spring transplanting season. The farmers noticed it before we told them — they said their paddies looked more uniform than any previous year.

Mr. Yoon — Rice Machinery Cooperative, Jeollanam-do
Retrofitted 22 existing rice direct-seeders from bevel to parallel-shaft gearboxes. Zero mechanical issues after 2 full planting seasons.

At 4.2 kg, the gearbox weighs less than the mounting bracket our old cast iron unit needed. We gained 6.1 kg of payload capacity per row unit — across 24 rows, that is 146 kg more seed and fertilizer we can carry before refilling. At $0.40 per kilogram of corn seed, that extra capacity pays for the gearbox upgrade in less than one refill stop saved.

Pertanyaan yang Sering Diajukan

Q1

Why use a parallel-shaft gearbox instead of a right-angle bevel like all your other products?

Precision seed metering requires the smoothest possible torque delivery. Bevel gears produce inherent cyclic torque variation from their curved tooth contact pattern. Parallel spur/helical gears maintain a straight line of contact throughout the mesh, producing less than 0.3% output speed variation — roughly half that of our best bevel gearboxes. For mowers and tillers where the working load overwhelms any transmission ripple, bevel gears are perfectly adequate. For seeders where the gearbox-induced speed variation is the largest error source in the metering chain, parallel architecture is the correct engineering choice.

Q2

Can I retrofit a parallel-shaft gearbox onto a seeder that currently uses a bevel gearbox?

In many cases, yes — but it requires a mounting adapter because the parallel-shaft gearbox has a different form factor than a right-angle bevel unit. We have designed adapter plates for several popular seeder models that allow the parallel-shaft gearbox to bolt into the existing bevel gearbox mounting location. Contact us with your seeder model and we will confirm whether an adapter solution exists or can be developed for your specific application.

Q3

What gear ratios are available?

Standard ratios: 1:1, 1.25:1, 1.5:1, and 2:1. Custom ratios are available for OEM orders (50 unit minimum). Some seeder designs use interchangeable gear clusters within the gearbox to allow the operator to select different seed populations in the field — we can supply multiple gear clusters per gearbox for this purpose. Contact our engineers with your target metering shaft RPM and we will recommend the correct ratio configuration.

Q4

Can one gearbox drive both seed and fertilizer metering?

Yes. We offer multi-output configurations with 2 or 3 independent output shafts, each running at a different speed determined by its own gear pair. This allows a single gearbox to drive the seed metering at one speed and the fertilizer metering at a different speed — eliminating the need for a separate fertilizer drive gearbox. The outputs are mechanically synchronized to the same PTO input, ensuring that seed and fertilizer application rates remain in a fixed proportion regardless of tractor speed fluctuations.

Q5

Should I choose spur gears or helical gears?

Spur gears are standard and suitable for most grain drill and planter applications — noise levels around 62-65 dB, efficiency above 98%, and excellent speed stability. Helical gears are the upgrade option for operators who prioritize cabin quiet (below 60 dB) or need the marginally smoother torque delivery for ultra-precision vegetable seeding at very low metering speeds (below 20 RPM). The helical option adds approximately 8-10% to unit cost. For most grain and row crop planting, spur gears provide the best value.

Q6

What oil should I use and how often should I change it?

Use 75W-90 GL-4 gear oil (note: GL-4, not GL-5 — the EP additives in GL-5 can be corrosive to the yellow metals sometimes used in spur gear bushings). Check oil level before each planting season. Change oil at 500 hours or annually. Seeder gearboxes run short seasonal hours (50-200 hours per year for most farms) at light loads, so oil degradation from heat is minimal — the annual change is primarily to remove any moisture that accumulates during off-season storage.

Q7

What is the minimum order and lead time?

Standard models: 10 units, 15-20 working days. Multi-output and custom ratio configurations: 50 units, 35-50 working days (first batch requires gear cutting tooling). Sample orders of 1-3 units for evaluation at standard pricing. We recommend placing seeder gearbox orders by January-February to ensure delivery before the Northern Hemisphere spring planting season.
