How This Speed Increaser Gearbox Works

Unlike most jordbruks-PTO-växellåda units that operate near 1:1 through 1:3 ratios, the D-7 series is a true high-ratio speed increaser. The tractor PTO delivers 540 RPM to the gearbox input shaft. Inside, a multi-stage gear arrangement — using a combination of bevel and spur gears — steps up the rotational speed by a factor of 4.36 (D-7B) or 5.82 (D-7A). The output shaft then spins at approximately 2,354 RPM or 3,143 RPM respectively, which falls within the operating range of most PTO-driven centrifugal sprayer pumps.

The trade-off with speed multiplication is torque reduction — the output torque is proportionally lower than the input torque. This is acceptable for sprayer pump applications because centrifugal pumps require high rotational speed but relatively low shaft torque. The D-7A, with its higher 5.82:1 ratio, outputs 48 Nm — suitable for smaller pumps on 600-1,000 litre sprayers. The D-7B, at 4.36:1, delivers 84 Nm — enough for larger pump models on 1,500-3,000 litre sprayer tanks used in commercial orchards and broadacre crop protection.
